Nordstrom is trying to go private. LVMH sales were a soft +3% vs LY while Brunello sales were up +16%. Bombas launches its first shoe: the Friday Slide. And Port Canvas relaunches their boat & tote dupe.
GQ: Now You Can Live Like Thom Browne, Too
The iconic American fashion designer, who has seen sales hit $400M this past year, just launched his new home collection at Salone del Mobile (aka “fashion week for couches”). It is a bedding collaboration with Frette, the Italian linen company that has been around since 1860. Thom Browne clearly has a strong POV when it comes to the home - just look at this 2016 profile of his Greenwich Village apartment - so it comes of no surprise to continue expand his design aesthetic into additional categories.
Hypebeast: The New Balance 1906L
The Frankenstein sneaker-loafer that is the 1906L is starting to make appearances on its press tour as it prepares for launch. It has a slip on entry, combined with a sneaker panelling and a 1906 outsole. There is an inline grey/silver, brown/navy, bright green and in an all black collab version with Junya Watanabe. These are quite divisive, and perhaps are pushing the mule/slip-on trend a bit too hard, but there is just something to them.
Puck: Fashion Fire Sale Season
Lauren Sherman broke the news that Matches Fashion, which is currently going through bankruptcy proceedings in the UK (“administration” as it’s called there) is liquidating full-price inventory via Walmart’s marketplace platform. You can find them under the seller Luosophy, which is selling items from Gucci, Isabel Marant, Jil Sander, and many, many others, at less than retail price. Meanwhile, Matches is refusing to pay their vendors while shopping themselves to the highest bidder.
