‘Tis the season - we’re going to spend the rest of our time this year recapping our favorite gifts out there! First up - HOME! Any of you listening to our podcast of late knows that we busy furnishing and decorating our new house, so it makes sense to start here. (Our new episode this week is on the business of gift guides.)
First, we absolutely adore these made-in-Mexico terracotta cups. Are they a pain to wash, and barely hold any liquid? Probably, almost definitely. But they are cute nonetheless, and the perfect hostess gift. And if we’re talking about handmade items with little to no utility, how about this beautifully patina’d vase. It has just the right amount of texture and porosity, and would look great on any surface that needs an accent. You can easily put dried flowers in it, or just use it on its own as a decorative object.
Lighting is also key during the winter months. There’s nothing better than unwinding at the end of the night with a nice candle flickering on the table or the mantle. These candles from our friend who opened Good Friend are just one sterling example in the category - plenty of other options here. Or, if you have kids and can’t have an open flame around, check out some battery powered options.
We’ve been spending way too much money at Zara Home lately, and happen to be in the market for some wreaths. Raquel crafted beautiful olive leaf wreaths at our last place in Brooklyn, but they somehow disappear in our move! 😭 But these two options definitely caught our collective eye - one tiny, one large. We’ll probably add the tiny one to Noemi’s room, it’s the perfect size for a kids room. And Raquel has plans to put one above our mirror as a new spin on mistletoe. And if you want to hang a wreath on a window, use these clear hooks.
And while we are talking big box stores, Raquel is a fan of this wooden end table from Target. It’s part of their hugely successful Studio McGee collaboration, and if we didn’t already have an end table, it is what Raquel would want to use to rest her morning coffee on in our living room. And last, we continue to recommend these Ikea sheepskin throws! We have these on everything!
