2023 Reads
When the end of year Best Of lists came out in December, and we realized we hadn’t read, well, anything1, we resolved to crack open a manageable four books between the two of us. This does not include children’s books, of which we now own a library’s worth and have memorized dozen of stories that can be recited in an emergency.
We chat more about our 2023 reading goals (i.e., lets read some adult books) on our podcast, but for the record we discuss (for Raquel) The Whole Brain Child and All Joy and No Fun, and (for me) Stay True and Meet Me In The Bathroom.
Maria Grazia Chiuri's Dior
Designer Maria Grazia Chiuri hasn’t just transformed Dior in her six years at the French house. She has swung open its doors to celebrate artists and artisans all over the world—and, perhaps most important, the women who wear her clothes.
MGC has been hugely successful at Dior2, both commercially and creatively, and the first woman to lead the iconic French luxury maison in its 70 year history. She is known for incorporating feminist themes and ideas into her collections, and for using her platform to make statements about social and political issues, as well as championing artisans from around the world.
Hollywood’s Latest Diet Craze? Ozempic, the Insulin Drug With Vanishing—Literally—Side Effects
Originally marketed for diabetics, Ozempic has become an It Drug in Tinseltown, even at $1,500 a pop.
Everyone at my office is doing a “Whole 30” diet, and I still don’t really know what that is. But I keep reading about how Ozempic is a weight loss drug that actually works. It’s not a pill, but a weekly injection that slows your bodies production of sugar. Khloé Kardashian “slammed” someone for accusing her of using the weight loss drug, and Kim may have used it before the last Met Gala.
It might work for someone who needs to lose weight for an event, but the side effects don’t seem worth it. Incessant vomiting, gastrointestinal problems, all for $1K per week. Plus, you gain all the weight back if you ever stop.
New Yorkifornia
New York City may think of itself as singular, but it’s increasingly possible to live the Los Angeles lifestyle here without the inconvenience of a cross-country flight. New Yorkers drive more and ride the subway less. They’re eating earlier, dressing sloppierand doing ketamine. The mayor parties at a Kardashian hangout, and there’s an organic mattress store on Fifth Avenue.
Is this the Los Ang-ularity?
We too own three Avocado mattresses and lived in California as recently as three months ago, drive everywhere and eat dinner at 5PM sharp. And, just launched this and this.

Chris & Raquel
Okay, we read A LOT of magazines and newspapers, the old fashioned paper kind, but not so many books in 2022. We are not that White Lotus couple.
It will never gets old hearing the French pronounce Dior: with heavy emphasis on the “-ior” it sounds so much more sophisticated that the American or British pronunciations.
