Zara Home
We are in the process of moving into our new place, which is much bigger than our old apartment. Which means we’ve been scrambling to acquire lots of new stuff - furniture, lighting, rugs, shelving, we need it all. In between looking on Kaiyo, 1st Dibs, Chairish, Room & Board, etc. etc. etc., we decided to test out some Zara rugs, chairs, objects and baby gear. Will report back once they arrive today!
Miami Design District
A few weeks ago, I traveled down to Miami to check in on some of our stores and wholesale accounts. It has been, incredibly, 21 years since I’ve been down to Miami, so it has changed just a bit.
Our big store is in the Design District, a shopping and arts district located across Biscayne Bay from South Beach. This area has really exploded over the last ten years, with every luxury brand in the world operating or expanding their flagship stores. As described in The New York Times, it’s an
enclave of luxury brands and art museums encased in flamboyant architecture.
While we were there, Dior, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton were all in the process of growing their footprint. It feels both dynamic and energetic, while retaining an almost tropical aura.
We got caught at one of Joël Robuchon’s1 new restaurants during a monsoon downpour in the afternoon, spending the afternoon hanging out with the staff until the weather cleared up.
We just missed the opening of Contessa, the new Major Food Group outpost in Miami, which was attended by celebrities like Alonzo Mourning (go Knicks!) and a spray tanned Gov. De Santis.
Collaboration Work
The last batch of my FW22 collections are starting to go live. All of these took A LOT of effort to come to fruition, and honestly exciting for these to see the light of day and start selling.
Sarah Staudinger
Fascinating article on Sarah Staudinger in the Styles section. She defends Elon Musk, talks about her dedicated pro biotic fridge and perhaps worst of all, comes out as a pickle ball player.
Her brand Staud is a small but growing contemporary brand, with notable collaborations with New Balance & Birkenstock, among others. It only does about $20M in revenue, and likely isn’t very profitable, but now that she is married to Ari Emanuel and his billions, she doesn’t need to worry about margins any time soon.

Robuchon passed away in 2018, yet is still opening new restaurants surprisingly often.
