Paris Hilton for Lanvin, Basic.Space, Bottega Jewelry, Nike(M)
Clockwise from Top.
I’ve been on the hunt for a destroyed Carhartt Arctic Jacket for some time now. You can usually find them for sale for a few hundred dollars at places like Unsound Rags or Detached Garments. This is the platonic ideal:
If there are any steelworker or stevedore readers out there, sell me your beat up workwear! I don’t have time to dig at a vintage show.
Raquel, on the other hand, is looking for the perfect white dress that can go from Spring to Summer. One that she can throw a cardigan over in Spring, and wear with sandals for Summer. So far she has narrowed down her search to these four: Rachel Comey, Posse, Co and Apiece Apart. Vote for your favorite in our poll in our Instagram stories!
We’ve been thinking a lot about jewelry this week. I had to stop by the Bottega Veneta shop on the Upper East Side and was pretty blown away. They have redone the entire interior, and have plenty of beautiful inventory that is not shoppable on the e-commerce site, due to some limitations on Kering’s backend system.
People are slowly noticing this particular SS21 style, and are not too happy about the price:
It’s a $2,000 telephone cord choker that can probably be made for a few dollars. (Diet Prada went off on this in their stories.) In fact, they are available pretty much anywhere for a few dollars: Old Navy, Anthropologie, and Amazon. While margin on this item is probably obscene, this is really not the jewelry item you should be buying from Bottega Veneta. Their best stuff is the gold plated styles, like these chain earrings that match back to their classic baguette.
This new line from Nike is a real about face for the sportswear giant, who only a few years ago was suspending sponsorship payments for its female athletes who were pregnant and unable to compete. Nike has since changed its contracts, and sponsored female athletes now receive 18 months of paid leave, beginning 8 months before the due date.
Basic.Space is a new, invite-only retail concept that allows shoppers to buy from an approved roster of curators, like Naomi Osaka and Virgil Abloh. Founder Jesse Lee describes the application process to join as:
Soho House meets Raya. It’s less about how famous you are, or how influential you are. It’s more about having good taste.
Virgil Abloh released a Vitra furniture collaboration on Basic.Space that quickly sold out, while Brynn Wallner’s space is a collection of women’s vintage Rolex, Cartier and Omega watches. But if you can’t get in, you can always buy this hat.
With all things Y2K coming back, it’s no surprise to see Paris Hilton starring in Lanvin’s SS21 campaign. The original influencer appealed to Lanvin’s creative director Bruno Sialelli for the way she ruled the early 2000’s with her sequin dresses and Tinkerbell chihuahua. Though we think it was a miss to not brand each image with “Lanvin Paris.”
With her insanely successful $1 million per night Ibiza DJ gig now over, and a recent engagement, Paris has been back in the spotlight of late: she starred in Coach’s re-release of the Swinger Bag, and her documentary This is Paris is on YouTube and getting good reviews.
